Ginko Group rebuilding its first home

Xiushui manufacturing plant, Ginko Group’s first home, is going to be completely new. Tsai Kuo-Chou, Ginko Group’s chairman, indicated that it is committed a budget of three hundred million (not including acquisition expenses for the first phase land) to build new Xiushui manufacturing plant, which includes rebuilding the original plant and second phase building. The construction will be completed in the middle of this month. Its related business has moved in successively and the inauguration ceremony is scheduled in the second quarter of this year.

New Xiushui plant covers an area of 69451.2 square feet (including the acquisition expense for the second phase surrounding land).  The total floor area of the building is about 88960 square feet.  The subsidiary companies, including GINKO GROUP, HORIEN International, KUO TUNG International, Chang Chun Optics and etc. will move in.

Tsai pointed out Ginko’s spectacles frame subsidiary companies will reside on the 1st, 3rd and 4th floor.  HORIEN Biotech cosmetics will reside on the 2nd floor.  The 5th floor is planned for Internet of things and warehouse.

Founded in 1981, led by Chairman Tsai Kuo-Chou, Ginko Group is engaged in the wholesale and distribution of the spectacles.  Set up in Changhua, 1985, Ginko Spectacle Industrial Co. started to manufacture all types of spectacle frames and sunglasses.

Due to the rapid growth of the business and inadequate production capacity, Ginko Group planned plant expansion in Xuishui Township, Changhua County.  The plant covers an area of 2,500 square meters and the annual yield reaches 1 million pairs and Ginko has become one of the largest spectacle manufacturers in Taiwan.

Tsai reveals that Ginko’s Xuishui plant was originally the first home for THC (Taiwan Hon Chuan Enterprise Co., Ltd.). Later, Hon Chuan moved its plant to Taichung Industrial Area and sold Xuishui plant and land to Ginko, which became the base for their six siblings to strive for the business.

In 1992, Ginko Group also invested in Danyang Jiansu to set up spectacles frame plant. It adopted automated production, including style design, mold development, parts design and manufacturing, welding, metal finishing and final assembly.  So far, the annual output value has reached 3 to 4 billion. Tsai reveals that the spectacle business in Danyang is planning to list on a stock market in China.

To create the atmosphere for Xuishui spectacle plant park, Tsai Kuo-Chou, former Board Director of Taichung Asia-Pacific Entrepreneur Association, especially requested the artist, Yu Teng-Chuan, who is also the member of the association, to create a “Giant Spectacles” bronze sculpture.  The work now is set by the lobby gate of new Xuishui plant.  It hopes to correspond to the spectacles frame in the new building.
